Hangova is one of the standout songs from the 2026 Tamil film DC, composed, arranged, and produced by Anirudh Ravichander, with lyrics by Heisenberg. The song was released as a single on July 6, 2026, and later appeared on the DC soundtrack.


Unlike the darker and more atmospheric Raga of Revenge, Hangova takes a more sensual, laid-back and contemporary approach, combining Anirudh's characteristic electronic production with live instrumental elements, layered vocals, programmed rhythms and a melodic interlude that brings an Indian melodic flavour into the arrangement.

What makes this breakdown even more special is that the entire production, recording, and mixing of this recreation was done by the faculties of RM School of Sound & Music.


This gives us the opportunity to take apart the production from the inside and demonstrate how the different musical and sonic elements can be recreated, arranged, recorded and mixed to achieve a polished contemporary cinematic sound.



Musical Characteristics of the Song


The central character of Hangova comes from its slow, groove-oriented melodic approach. Rather than relying on a heavily orchestral arrangement, the song creates its identity through the interaction between the lead vocal, electronic rhythm programming, harmonic textures and live instrumental layers.

Anirudh handled the keyboard, synth and rhythm programming, with additional programming by Shashank Vijay, Marshall Robinson, and Clinton Robinson. The track also features acoustic guitar by Sajith Satya and horns by That Boy Franco.
